Sunbelt Expo

This coming week is the Sunbelt Expo in Moultrie.

We will be there cooking peanuts and have several related exhibitors in the building. It seems like it was just yesterday that we finished with the last Expo.

As a side note I was at the Georgia National Fair doing a Chef's Demo yesterday and the crowd at eh cooking stage seemed about the same as in the past but the parking lot sure didn't seem as busy.

Peanutty Stuff

Peanuts are high in mono-unsaturated fat which is the good heart healthy fat. They also have folate which is critical in the diet for women of childbearing age and who are pregnant. Folate also has been linked to other benefits in the body. Peanuts have a bit or resveratrol and every little bit helps. And, they are good for people with Adult Onset Diabetes.
Georgia produces about 45% of the US peanut crop. Runner peanuts are the dominant peanut variety and go in to candy, salted nuts, peanut butter, peanut oil and more.
Dr. Georgia Washington Carver developed more than 300 uses for peanuts, most of which were non-food uses. He was an orchid breeder before arriving at Tuskeegee Institute.
The Extra Terrestrial's (ET) favorite snack was Reese's Pieces. It has been reported that M&M Mars turned down the offer for M&M's.
